I wanted to thank you for your great website. It helped me to prepare for the test and it just took me 5 minutes to pass it!

I also wanted to thank you for the other website you were recommended on your website (http://www.lifeintheuk.org/) the tests were very helpful.
With all these free stuff on your websites, I don’t think if somebody goes to get ready for test, they need to buy the study book or pay for official website materials.

    Best Regards,

  19. barrie says:

If i do the test now, will the certificate be valide for july next year?
    Really need to know.

  20. box says:

    Hi Barrie,

The certificate of life in the UK IS VALID forever and it is only meant to be given once in life. So if you are giving for a permanent stay, then you do not have to give it again for the citizenship.

But there is only one condition at the moment i.e. You should not lose your certificate for life in the UK, so in case you lose before you apply for citizenship, then you will have to give it again.

I hope the above clears all for you

  37. Miranda says:

Why does the book say that the minimum age for children to do paid work in the UK is 14, but this website says 13? Very confusing.

  38. Miranda says:

Section 18 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 sets 14 as the minimum age at which a child may take part-time employment.

It is possible for 13 year olds to take part-time employment provided that local byelaws permit them to undertake ‘light work’ on an occasional basis.

Where local byelaws do not specify whether 13 year olds can work then they should not be employed. 13 year olds do not have a ‘right’ to work.

A child under 13 years of age may not be employed at all (although they may be able to take part in performances, sports and modelling where a payment is made for the child’s participation) Before a child can take part in such performance the employer will have to apply for a licence to the local authority.
